Consumed Himalaya: Nature and Natives Commodified
"Nepal is quite a narrow country, but it is about five hundred miles from east to west, and the great Himalayan Range stretches along its northern border with Tibet. Within its frontiers is the greatest concentration of high mountains in the world..."
-Lieutenant Colonel James Roberts
You have chosen to explore the consumption of the Himalayas. This exhibit examines trekking documents as well changes that have been incurred during the production of Thangkas in reaction to Western idealization. The topic of consumption pervades the Himalayan region in a multitude of facets and will hopefully aid in the examination and expansion of our individual perceptions of this topic which can be easily slipped under the radar.
